USBAsp: The tiny AVR programmer

Once I got really into Arduinos and starting making my own boards, I found that the cheap programmers I was buying were unreliable. The programmer itself, cable or 10 pin to 6 pin adapter would fail. Another issue I found was that I couldn’t get very far away from my USB port to do the programming. The programmer itself was in the USB port and the extension wire was actually the programming wires. This isn’t ideal as long wires can lead to programming errors.

Enter my USBAsp programmer. I use a USB cable to attach the programmer to the computer. This allows a very long cable if necessary and the shortest possible distance from the programmer to the AVR. I designed it so that the programmer could have male, female or pogo pins.

It’s still the programmer I use for all my AVR programming needs. You can download the EAGLE design files and assemble your own. Feel free to leave any questions in the comment section.
